Atlanta, Georgia. – The Atlanta Pride Committee (APC) is pleased to announce the full schedule of events in honor of the anniversary of Stonewall.
Back in 2008 new guidelines for park usage were developed after the drought that forced all festivals out of Piedmont Park that year. Once that occurred, Atlanta Pride moved to October in order to remain in their traditional event-home in Piedmont Park. With the move of the annual festival to the fall, APC thought it was important to specifically increase focus around the anniversary of Stonewall, a watermark in the LGBTQ community nationwide.
For the next few years Atlanta Pride celebrated Stonewall Week to mark the historic anniversary within the LGBTQ movement; and in 2012, APC expanded from commemorating one week to celebrating for the entire month of June. In 2014, Atlanta Pride is offering an impressive schedule of events.
Atlanta Pride Executive Director, Buck Cooke, said of the newly published schedule, “This is Atlanta Pride’s third year hosting Stonewall Month and we are excited that we continue to have community favorites come back again and again in addition to new events for everyone to enjoy. Events like Georgia Equality’s Evening for Equality, the East Point Possums Show, and AID Atlanta’s Cotillion continue to draw big crowds and engage the community. We are also excited with the addition of the We Are Family! event on June 22 so that LGBTQ and allies can come out, bring their kids, and have a good time as a family unit. It is also extremely gratifying that there are new organizations involved this year, like Wonder Root and their Deconstructing Binaries event.”
While a schedule listing is included below, full event descriptions and additional information can be found via the Atlanta Pride website at: http://atlantapride.org/events/

Therefore, LGBTQ couples in Georgia still need wills, financial powers of attorney and advance directives for health care — at a minimum.
